Neville Bobbin was lying in bed on Thursday, January 31 but instead of sleeping as he should have been at 1am his mind was turning over on the plight of the flood victims in Bundaberg.

“I was lying in bed thinking of them poor buggers in trouble and wondering if we could do something,” Neville said.
The next morning at 7am he was on the phone to Daryl Dobson, of Pambula Rotary Club. “We need to do something; we’ve got to,” Neville told Daryl.
It didn’t take long for Daryl to get on the phone to the Bundaberg Rotary Club and Bundaberg Salvation Army with the offer of a semi-trailer full of furniture, toys and linen.
“Basically they just jumped at the offer,” Daryl said.
Neville who with his wife, Lyn, owns Bobbins Transport, South Pambula, is donating the use of his semi-trailer, the fuel for the 3626km round trip, his driver and a couple of furniture packers. Daryl will help pack and organise collections.
Now they need us to help them fill the semi-trailer.
It’s not the first time that the Bobbins Transport trucks have brought comfort to those in need. Neville sent four trucks filled with household items and toys to those affected by the Victorian fires in 2009.
Daryl said: “We want good quality furniture. Anything not up to standard we will send back. We don’t need to embarrass these people. If you wouldn’t put it in your lounge room then don’t give it to the flood victims.”
Neville and Daryl are also looking for linen, still in its package, toys and bikes in working order and good condition electrical goods but no televisions.
Daryl is able to help organise removals to the Bobbins Transport depot for anyone unable to get their donations to the yard on Sunday, February 17 between 9am and 3pm when packers will be on hand to ensure as much as possible goes into the semi-trailer.
That evening the driver will head off on the 1813km journey to Bundaberg where both Rotary and the Salvation Army will be co-ordinating the distribution of goods.
“We need 10 households of furniture and related items to fill the semi-trailer,” Neville said.
If you need help to move furniture or wish to donate money, contact Daryl Dobson on 0414 734 462 or after 6pm on 6495 4887. Otherwise bring donations to Bobbins Transport, Mount Darragh Road, South Pambula on Sunday, February 17 between 9am and 3pm.
