Matt had put the Tigers on edge early when he lunged over the line after a 20-metre burst through the Bay defence, but it was ruled a knock-on over the line. 

Unsettled and aggressive play through the middle was the order of business, but soon the Tigers were made to pay dearly. 

The Tigers were a little lazy under a Narooma high ball and – man of the match winner – Clyde swooped in to take the catch before sprinting 30 metres to score under the posts. 

With play steadying, Batemans Bay’s best performer on the day William Shoemark made a great break down the left edge on a 40-metre run which also drew a penalty from the Devils and put the Tigers in great field position. 

Unfortunately, the Tigers weren’t able to capitalise on the attack and were soon back on the defensive with Connor Martin and J Godfrey working good metres up Narooma’s left flank. 

Liam Sweeney made the most of their progress and put the Devils over the line near the left edge to lead 10-0 as the conversion was waived off. 

The Devils began coughing up some chances with knock-ons giving the Tigers possession, but the Tigers were mostly working out of their own half and not able to out-pace their Narooma rivals. 

Mitch Hockey, J Gunson, J Colovatti and Shoemark were all gaining good ground as the Tigers put in immense defensive work, but the Bay outfit were repeatedly turned away from attacking the Narooma try-line. 

In howling winds and with a smattering of rain setting in early in the second half, Connor Martin put the Devils further ahead with a right-edge run setting up a 16-0 lead. 

Shoemark finallly broke the drought for the Bay, but against the driving winds another kick was waived away. 

With just 18 minutes left on the clock, B Zideluns broke the Bay line to burst 40 metres up the right flank and run in a try under the posts. 

The Bay replied through J Colovatti with a good try, but time was quickly running out on any chance of the Bay closing the gap as they trailed 22-8. 

Late in the piece it was Matt who again broke through, but his run was guarded by the Bay fullback, but a quick pass to Clyde offering outside support locked in the win.
