The tai chi group members meet every week at Pambula Town Hall, giving $2 for their lesson which goes towards the hall hire. Any money left over was put to one side and after two years, leader of the tai-chi for arthritis classes, Maureen Ryan was able to give Peter van Bracht of Bega Can Assist a cheque for $1400 on Tuesday, December 5.
“This outstanding local volunteer group offer confidential financial assistance to people affected by cancer, across the Bega Valley Shire,” Ms Ryan said.
The donation was made in memory of Christine Thompson and Lynda Allan, two former tai-chi for arthritis leaders, who taught for nine years at the Pambula Town Hall. The classes, run by Southern NSW Local Health will resume in February, 2018, and are available for beginners and experienced participants. Contact: Maureen Ryan on 6495 4009.
