The remembrance motorcycle ride from Bega to Pambula returned for a second year on Saturday, October 29.
Around 26 bike riders convoyed from Kiss’s Lagoon to Pambula Inlet in memory of family members and friends who have died. Riders from as far as Narooma and Canberra took part.
After spending some time together at Pambula Inlet, the group returned to the Commercial Hotel for lunch.
Ride organiser and Bega Valley Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN) member Glenn Cotter said there was a lot of reflection and a few tears shed on the day.
“The ride gives you a quiet personal space to remember and be with your own thoughts,” he said.
“But the day is also about us getting together and solidifying that support network.”
The ride raised $200 for SPAN from the $5 registration cost for riders. Mr Cotter said the funds would cover market stall costs for SPAN for the next year.
“It’s a great result from the day, it ensures we can keep reaching out to the community,” he said.
“Especially considering a few recent losses we have in this area, it’s really important for SPAN to have a visual presence all of the time.”
He said the day was made memorable by the perfect weather and the great support shown by all of the riders involved.
