There will be a rich musical mix of classics, popular favourites, jazz and swing.
The Concert Band is now under the baton of David Quinlan, and well-known local instrumentalist, playwright, composer and singer Paul Dion is leading the Jazz Band.
The Concert Band will be majoring on popular showbiz music with themes from Italian movies, Phantom of the Opera, Disney film favourites plus Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody and from the classics, the band will play Elgar's haunting Enigma Variations.
The Jazz Band will feature classic big band jazz arrangements from the Count Basie repertoire and improvised solos from band members.
Also featured will be original arrangements by David Quinlan and 14-year-old saxophonist Oscar Gill.
Gifted teenage pianist Hunter Bailey-Watts will be performing a stunning classical item, ‘Prelude by Rachmaninoff Op 3 No 2’.
Band leader Paul Dion will also take time out to sing a couple of popular tenor favourites.
Paul spent five years with Opera Australia and two years ago thrilled the concert audience with his rendition of Nessun Dorma.
The Sapphire Coast Concert and Jazz Bands are community groups which practise every week and perform at many local events and ceremonies including the Anzac day services, the Eden Whale Festival, and Christmas Carols in Merimbula and Eden.
David and Paul said all players looked forward to the concerts and the chance to perform for their local community.
Players currently range in age from 14 to 82. All local instrumentalists and would-be players are welcomed and given guidance when necessary.
The Sapphire Coast Jazz Band, made up of 17 players focuses on big band arrangements and a variety of other instrument combinations in the jazz genre.
Musicians are encouraged at times to leave the printed page and play improvised solos based on the underpinning melody and chord structure.
