Last week the Golf Club gained a new electric golf cart built specifically for those with a walking disability. 

The new cart, built by the Parmaker Company in Melbourne, cost nearly $5,000, with the two local Rotary Clubs donating about $2100 each, and the remainder covered by the Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club.

The cart will remain the property of the PMGC, who will garage the cart and undertake its maintenance.

Golf Club member Ron Finneran welcomed the acquisition of such a cart. He gave the cart a test run last Friday, October 13th, and by all accounts, was very pleased with the new machine.

Pambula Rotary Club president Colin Dunn said the cart would be available to any local or visiting golfers with a disability.

The next meeting for Pambula Hospital Auxiliary will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at the building next to the Sunshine Centre in community health grounds.

The auxiliary is holding a street stall on Saturday, November 4 in the main street of Pambula. Please come along and support the auxiliary. New members welcome.

The Royal Willows Hotel, Pambula is holding a pink ribbon Cancer Cancer fundraiser on Friday, October 20  with The Fez playing from 9pm until late. Entry is by gold coin donation.

VIEW Clubs urge their communities to tackle Anti Poverty Week which is from 15th to 21st October, as more than 1.1 million children and young people are living in poverty across Australia and need extra education support.  

VIEW is helping disadvantaged young Australians to succeed in their education through the support of The Smith Family.

Merimbula Day VIEW Club members are highlighting the need for books, uniforms and support by holding a Spring Fashion Parade and luncheon from 11:30am on October 20 at the Merimbula RSL.

All funds raised will support their Learning for Life students, and tickets are available from Treasurer Jan on 64950744 before Thursday for catering purposes.

Merimbula Evening VIEW Club will host members of their sister club from Queanbeyan to a dinner at Club Sapphire this Friday night. Queanbeyan VIEW Club members are visiting this area with their partners and friends on their annual holiday pilgrimage to various areas of Australia.

The October meeting of the Bega Valley Parkinson Support Group saw the introduction of a new member who had only recently been diagnosed with Parkinson.

The new member was amazed at the information he was able to obtain from the meeting simply by listening to the members talking about their lives with Parkinson.

The president and secretary gave a comprehensive report on the Group leaders conference they had attended in Sydney and they will be making some changes to how monthly meetings are held in the new year.

The president has recently had a meeting with a new neurologist at Bowral and had the most extensive consultation he  has ever had. The November meeting will see the CEO of Parkinson NSW Jo-Anne Reeves and support group co-ordinator Melanie Browning at the meeting. Jo-Anne will give an broad report on the operations of Parkinson NSW and Melanie on how our meetings can be of help to the operation of Parkinson NSW.

Members are requested to attend this meeting as the two speakers have a great deal of information for everyone. The public is very welcome to this meeting.
