More than 300 names have put pen to paper to support the project, as surveys were circulated to 14 businesses across Pambula last month.
Pambula Beach resident and owner of Bikes Related Industries, Hjalmar ‘Yully’ Arnold, said the aim of the survey was to collate data to support a feasibility study.
“So far six sites have been located and audited, of which two stand out above the rest,” Mr Arnold said.
“The audit covers a number of key factors including ease of emergency service locating and accessibility, current land usage (and) maintenance requirements with respect to an alternative use of the land, among many other facets.”
Sites across Pambula and Pambula Beach comprise the Pambula Sporting Complex, Pambula Surf Lifesaving Club, land on Club Ave, two blocks of land near Hallorans Trail and land next to Imlay House on Merigan St.
The forum comes after concerned Pambula Beach residents called on the community in August to come together to find an appropriate local area for a BMX track.
Throughout winter a group of primary school students banded together to build their own track on Crown Land backing onto Jinjera Parade, which one Pambula Beach resident labelled as “extremely dangerous”.
“Not only do the fire trucks need to be able to get along there unhindered, so do the contractors that mow the area seasonally in the build up to fire season,” a NSW Department of Industry - Lands and Forestry spokesperson said last month.
Some parents of the children expressed their disappointment that those with concerns had gone to government bodies before approaching the children and their parents.
An open forum regarding a new site will be held on Wednesday, October 11 at The Broken Oar, Pambula at 5.30pm.
Local residents, potential users and members of the Bega Valley Shire Council and NSW National Parks are invited to the event.
