Bermagui racer Reid Battye is an Australian Super Bike Champion.
Reid, 16, has locked in the top spot of the [up to] 300cc division of the championship with one round to spare after winning the round at Sydney’s Motorsport Park last weekend.
“When I crossed the line in first place and I knew I had won the championship, I was over the moon,” Reid says, “but the real thrill and exhilaration kicked in when I rode in and my whole family and team were waiting for me.”
“I can’t thank my Mum, Dad and Sister enough for the hard work they do just to get me to events and be by my side every step of the way.”
BC Performance team manager Kelvin Reilly said “Having Reid on board with our junior team has been fantastic, he is definitely a talent to look out for in the future”
The Bermagui youngster said he could never have done it alone and was overwhelmed with the support of his family and the entire Far South Coast.
“I’m so grateful to have such community support behind me, it means so much everyone getting behind me and following my career,” he said.
”I also have to thank my sponsor Ficeda Accessories, nothing would be possible without you guys, thanks so much.”
The win is a huge result for the youngster, who has signed on with the Kawasaki factory team on a three-year deal. “Having that calibre of people behind me gives me great confidence in what I do and I can’t thank the guys enough.”
The final round is at Philip Island this weekend, but Reid has the win wrapped up.
