Three fields hosted simultaneous play as organisers welcomed three age divisions including under 12s boys and under 13s girls and boys draws.
The local Far South Coast outfits – the Coasties – were represented in each bracket, while the Shoalhaven provided the Lion’s share of opposition with two teams contesting each division.
Officials said teams had also travelled from Canberra, Cooma, Gippsland, Tasmania and LaTrobe in a standout showing with great competition.
Conditions on Sunday were idyllic, but officials said the weather on Saturday had been quite unkind as howling winds buffeted the players and the ball across the three grounds.
Representative spokesman for the FSC Ray Hale said the competition was “stronger than ever” with great displays from all the young outfits.
“The level of competition has certainly improved,” Hale said on the final day of competition, Sunday.
“Some of the teams are rep sides, regional outfits and MPL squads, so the quality of football really is top notch.
“But everyone is lifting to meet the standards, which is awesome to see, there hasn’t been any real score blowouts.”
Entries included a Southern Zone side, which is the next level up for the players of the FSC and to compete against them was a thrill as the locals held their own in the divisions.
The under 13 Coasties were running even 1-1 on Sunday morning, but capped off their third round with a resounding win over one of the Shoalhaven Squads.
The Coasties were solid at finishing to take a three-goal lead.
On field two, the girls were put to the test against the Brindabella Blues in their Sunday draw.
A spokeswoman for the team said the girls were fairly tired after battling the wind over three rounds on Saturday, but they were defending well.
The spokeswoman said the Coasties were the local under 12s girls playing up an age group, but were solid in both attack and defence.
Eliza-Jane Norris featured for the Coasties against the Blues, kicking an early goal in a one-on-one charge at the Canberra keeper.
And she later set up a second with a neat right to left cross for her team-mate to cleanly find the net.
However, the Eurobodalla girls looked like the team to beat with three straight wins by Sunday morning.
In the under 12s, the Blue Devils had been strong contenders winning their two earlier rounds, while the Far South Coast had dropped consecutive games in a tough outing.
Despite the blowy conditions earlier, officials said they were thrilled with the tournament and the sunshine over the weekend.
