One of the station’s original DJs Vanessa Bliss hit the airwaves on Thursday afternoon, September 21, for the 100th time.
Known for bringing a ‘little bit of Bliss in the afternoon’, Vanessa celebrated her 100th show with members of the community and other DJs as well as some live music by The Figmentz.
Sapphire FM first hit the airwaves out of their Pambula studio in May 2015.
The station was founded by John Drakopoulos but he said if it weren’t for all the fantastic volunteers, including Vanessa, then the station wouldn’t be where it is today.
Mr Drakopoulos said the station was very grateful to Vanessa’s contribution to the station.
”Vanessa was one of the original DJs here, she’s been here right from the start, before we even had a licence and has been a great part of the team here,” he said.
The local community ration station combined Vanessa’s 100th show with a meet and greet sausage sizzle.
It was arranged as a way for the community to come down and habe a look at the studio space, meet the local DJs and get a glipse of what happens behind the scenes.
The station transmits to Merimbula, Pambula and Tura Beach on FM 97.5 and streams live on the internet 24hrs a day, seven days a week.
The station has a variety of different shows with interesting interviews and features all types of music from country and roots through to Sunday’s Psychadelic Sundown.
