Earlier in the year, the News Weekly reported that there would be no Pambula Motorfest in 2017, but at that time the committee was certain the event would return in 2018 bigger and better than ever. But now, they are not so sure. 

For the past five years the Pambula Motorfest has been one of the biggest events on the Sapphire Coast calendar, in fact, more than 10,000 people walked through the gates at the 2016 event. 

The Motorfest is also a huge supporter of the local community with all profits, totaling more than $90,000, being donated back to local organisations. 

Some of the organisations that have benefitted from the Pambula Motorfest include the Pambula Hospital, Pambula Sports Complex, local Rural Fire Service brigades, local primary schools, Rotary clubs, Marine Rescue, sporting clubs, and local families in need.

But now, long time Motorfest treasurer Jessica Porter said if they can’t get any more volunteers they will have no choice but to fold the event. 

“We don’t want to do it, obviously, we love the event and we love what it has done for the town, but we can’t run something of that scale with only five people,” Ms Porter said. 

“It does take up a lot of your time, 80 per cent of the committee members all work full time, and we can’t do it anymore, we need more people to share the load,” Ms Porter said. 

The Pambula Motorfest committee is holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 4 at 6pm at the Pambula Merimbula Golf Club and Ms Porter said if people don’t step up and help out then the event, which brings hundreds of thousands of dollars into the area, would be finished. 

The committee emphasised that those who wish to be involved do not need to be motor enthusiasts as they are always looking for people with different perspectives.

Ms Porter also thanked all the past committee members for all they have done.
