This year’s draw will be held on November 17 at the Pambula-Merimbula golf course and organisers said there will be a bigger field and a huge array of prizes.
The day is also a salute to all those in an emergency service or essential service, who help protect our community and more than 140 are expected to battle it out on the day for the Cup.
The NSW Police Force currently hold the Cup, but the Ambulance Service are eager to knock them off the podium and encouraging more fireys and service people to join the fun.
“We want to appeal to service personnel, even those who are retired, we want to see the fireys getting more involved and anyone who has served can put a team in, if you’re ex-RFS ex-VRA, join in,” organiser Darren Jones said.
Jones said the day is all about recognising the work of local service people, but giving back to charity with more than $7,000 raised last year for toys to go in the children’s ward of the South East Regional Hospital.
This year, funds will go towards Nardy House at Quaama, which provides non-government specialised respite care for children and adults with profound physical disabilitites.
The next stage of the development is to build a heated hydro therapy pool and the Emergency Services Golf Day wants to donate all money raised towards this project.
“We would love to donate about $20,000,” Jones said. Adding that there was already almost $6000 in raffle prizes up for grabs and a number of fantastic items up for silent auction.
Another highlight for entrants will be AFL identity Mark ‘Jacko’ Jackson as guest speaker to provide a few laughs.
There are only about 12 spaces (for four-player teams) left and interest is running hot.
“We've had good inquiries from Marine Rescue and SES and I think we had an e-mail from the commissioner of the VRA so places are filling quickly,” Jones said.
“It’s just getting better every year.”

Jones said the golf day was aimed squarely at emergency services, but said if the general public wanted to join in there was a charity dinner the night before at Sundeck in Merimbula.
“Tickets are $50, which covers your entry, a tapas menu dinner and entertainment with Andy O’Donnell playing.”
Proceeds from the night will also be donated to help Nardy House.
