Brigades across the Bega Valley are giving residents a chance to chat one on one with their firefighters to determine their level of bush fire risk, discuss risk reduction tactics and develop a bush fire survival plan for their family and property.
The RFS advises that one of the most important things you can do ahead of bush fire season is have a conversation in you home about exactly what you will do in a bush fire. The predict this conversation takes as little as 20 minutes, but could be life saving.
On Saturday, September 16 meet local firefighters at Merimbula fire station from 10am to 12.30pm, Jellat fire station from 11am-3pm, Bega fire control centre from 10am-2pm or Wolumla Primary School from 10am-2pm.
For more locations and advice, see the NSW RFS website.
