The two teams made the cut during preliminary finals play in Bega on Sunday, while the Wolumla Tigers edged out Merimbula’s first grade 3-2.
A howling northerly swept over the field after half-time in the ladies clash and carried right through the first grade game.
In the first grade match, the Grasshoppers began with the wind at their back and pressed the attack with a few scything runs at goals early.
However, Ross Oldham stood defiant at keeper, stopping short a number of close strikes.
Tim Hodgkin starred for the Tigers, kicking a double.
Earlier, the Hoppers had claimed the reserve grade result 3-1 over the Bega Devils.
The Grasshoppers were quick, agile and remained vocal on the field with good communication to secure an early 2-0 advantage before the break.
The Devils swapped out their goalie and rallied the attack, but could not get past Dave Gilbert in goals with some good support from his back line.
The Grasshoppers extended their lead to 3-0 in the second on the back of solid attacking runs.
The Devils rallied back to a 3-1 deficit as their play became increasingly frantic and desperate.
The Grasshoppers will now meet the undefeated Wolumla Tigers in the grand final on Sunday.
Pambula claimed a 3-2 win over the Wolumla Tigresses in the women’s contest after Wolumla had the early lead.
The Pambula keeper had stopped a ball but tapped it back into play where Kirsty McPaul was waiting with an eager boot to seal the opener.
Penguinettes winger Astyn Friend was the strongest for the team, levelling the scores off a strong run up the line.
Both teams found another goal each and looked like going into extra time
However, a late penalty gave the Penguinettes a dot shot chance and Annalisse Reed made no mistake to win 3-2.
The grand final will run at Berrambool Oval on Sunday with senior play starting at 11.15am.
