The removal is necessary to accommodate an electrical pit and as soon as the tank is out the space will be backfilled and work to form up the pit, started.
There are three tanks in total but the other two will be pumped out and filled with a stabilising sand and cement mix.
On Sunday evening Essential Energy will be on site to replace a large power pole on the corner of Monaro Street and Palmer Lane. Of the nine wires currently attached, six low voltage wires will go underground to the new electrical pit. Only the high voltage wires will remain above ground at this stage.
Later this week curb ramps will be formed and poured and then Roads and Maritime Services will install traffic and pedestrian lights in front of Sanity and in the blister area on Friday allowing paving to be reinstated on these areas.
A box drain (a drain with a mesh cover) will be installed along the blister.
