David was born on 20 June 1951 to a pioneering farming family on the Monaro.

Initially he was home schooled and then completed High School at Canberra Grammar and Cooma High. He was brought up on a remote property, becoming one with the bush and a ‘jack of all trades’.

He was an entrepreneur all his life. In his early years David established successful businesses in Canberra, before moving back to the land where he grew up. He engaged in farming and property developing, first on his own and later with the love of his life, Marci.

Their first child Jasper was born in their stone hut on the property. David was captain of the Dry Plains Bush Fire Brigade during this time.

As it was time for Jasper to start schooling, the family moved to the coast where they purchased a bush block. Working as a team and with David’s ingenious engineering, craftsmanship, workaholism and perfectionism they developed the bush block into a magnificent home, where their second child Elli-Sky was born.

With a most caring nature David was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike.

He was a true stalwart and long standing member of the Merimbula Big Game and Lakes Angling Club and a great trophy winner! There will always be fond memories of his exceptional devotion to the club and his fishing and hunting adventures.

His colourful character and enthusiastic and somewhat roguish personality was second to none in all his endeavours. David will be dearly missed by all. May he rest in peace.

David’s funeral will be held at Pambula cemetery, 3pm on Friday, August 25 and the MBGLAC will host his wake from 4pm.
