From August 21, the Salvation Army Store in Alice Street Merimbula will be celebrating Book Week by displaying and selling an even wider selection of books for children and adolescents. Many renowned and popular authors and illustrators will be represented giving families a great opportunity to buy quality books at a very reasonable price. Thank you to all who donate a wonderful range of books to our store.

Hospital Auxiliary
At the recent AGM meeting for the Pambula Hospital Auxiliary the newly appointed Executive committee will be represented by Ursula Viebcke, president, Shirley Rixon, vice president, Wendy Gorton, secretary and Joyce Bennett, treasurer. The new committee and members will continue its efforts to support and fundraise for essential equipment at Pambula Hospital. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 23 at 10am adjacent to the former Sunshine Centre on the Pambula Community Health Centre grounds. New members will be openly welcome.
Trash and Treasure
Can Assist is holding their annual Trash and Treasure sale at the Bega Show Ground on September 16. If you would like to help out with a donation of saleable goods please contact Peter on 0439 321 945 and arrange collection of donations or take goods to the Show Ground on Friday, September 15. All money raised goes to assist Cancer Patients in the Bega Valley.
Daffodil Day
Fresh Daffodils, bears, balls and badges, along with the famous Daffodil Day pens will be on sale Friday 25 August 2017 in the main Street of Pambula. You will also find volunteers at the Tura Centre, and the main street in Merimbula – between 9am and 4pm. Please call Robyn on 0414 482 353 if you would like to lend a hand on the day! A small amount of your time would be greatly appreciated to help this worthy cause.
CWA
Terry Prowse gave us lots of Tips and Tricks on our iPads at our last CWA “First Friday of the Month” demonstrations. On September 1, it will be Card Making with Jackie Beever, $10, everyone is welcome to come along at 10am to the CWA hall at 24 Toalla Street, Pambula. Please ring Marjorie 0429204467 to book.
CWA Far South Coast Group are holding a Music, Drama and Group International day on Monday, August 21 at the Cobargo School of Arts at 10am, entry $12.00, Raffles $1 and Nepalese food will be presented. The next monthly meeting of the Pambula-Merimbula branch of the Country Women’s Association will be on Friday, August 18, at 9.30am at our hall. Instead of a guest speaker we will have some In House Fun!
Sapphire Coast Orchid Club
The Sapphire Coast Orchid Club will be holding it’s annual Winter Orchid Display on Friday and Saturday, August 18-19, 9am–5pm and Sunday, August 20, 9am–1pm at Twyford Hall, Merimbula. Entry is free. Some orchid plants will be on sale. For information contact Les on 6495 9012.
Wolumla open day
Wolumla Public School is holing an open day on Friday, August 18. Potential students, families and community members are invited to come along. The agenda for the day is: 9.25am – Welcome to visitors; 9.30-9.50am – Morning tea with the P&C in the Library; 9.50-10.30am – Guided tour of school with the 2017 School Captains, Crystal and Jackson; 10.30-11.30am – Whole school assembly showcasing our performing and academic talents followed by a sausage sizzle.
Beekeeping workshop
The Bega Valley Beekeepers Club will be holding a one-day Beginning in Bees workshop on Saturday, September 23 and again on Sunday, September 24, 9am to 2pm, in the Historic Old Bega Hospital grounds. It includes theory followed by guided hands-on work with bees after lunch. The cost is $60 (members $40). Ceramics workshop series
Spiral Gallery is presenting a Ceramics Workshop Series. Learn how to hand build and decorate a unique cup with Margaret Brown and how to throw and decorate a plate and bowl with Dimity Goldie. Course Dates are: August 26, September 9 and September 23, $70 for the three sessions, all materials provided. The workshops run from 10am-3pm at Bega Valley Potters (Old Bega Hospital).
