Kids seem to grow so fast and keeping up with clothing needs can be a real headache for young families but a new initiative by Narelle Hutchinson at her photography studio in Pambula could mean that one kid’s dress could turn into many.

The idea is a simple one; hand over one item of children’s clothing and receive a credit that will allow you choose a similar item in another size.
On Thursday, July 27, Narelle was busy sorting through piles of children’s clothing, some donated, some she has bought, in preparation for the opening of her kids’ clothes swap.
“We’re always looking at doing something new and we have a lot of mums and dads in here and the kids all grow up so fast. I thought if all the locals on buy, swap, sell sites could meet up in one place and just swap kids’ clothing it could be good and save them money,” Narelle said.
“It’s like a bartering system, you have a card with your name on it showing what you have brought in, which gives you a credit for the same type of item.
Narelle decided to test her idea with a group of young mums.
“Some then messaged me back and asked to help. For those without extended family it’s a way of sharing clothes and a lady from Bega organised a group of mums there and gave a lot of clothes to get started,” she said.
The kids’ clothes swap will cater for 0-size 6 clothing although currently Narelle has birth to size 3 for girls and birth to size 2 for boys but is expecting to get some larger sizes in the next couple of days.
“If you’re having a baby you can come in here now and pretty well get decked out,” Narelle said.
Pop into Creative Photo Co, 45 Toalla Street, Pambula between 11am-3pm for the opening of the swap shop and swap your kids clothes for the next size up for free.
The swap shop will then be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10am-4pm.
