The Bulldogs now sit in third place behind Cooma and Bombala, after stringing together three consecutive wins.
They face second placed Bombala in next week’s qualifying final at the Bombala Showground, and will be feeling confident after the team’s 40-20 win over the Blue Heelers in their Round 10 encounter.
Jake Mikula finished with 10 tries in the regular season, and filled in yet again for injured half back Corey Schafer.
“He’s absolutely carving it up,” club president Laurie Delle Vergin said.
“Real credit has to go to coach Nathan Heffernan for this season’s performances.”
In reserve grade the Merimbula-Pambula Bull Ants defeated Bermagui-Cobargo 20-0.
“Candelo-Bemboka have clearly dominated the competition this season, but we think we can get around them,” Delle Vergin said.
Ian Smith’s 17 tries have been a standout this season.
The Merimbula-Pambula Hot Doggies league-tag side defeated Eden 28-0 to secure third place on the ladder, and Delle Vergin was all praise for the league’s top scorer Tamika Millard.
Millard is the league’s top point scorer, leading her nearest rival by more than 100 points with 31 tries and 44 goals this season.
The Bulldogs’ U18 squad defeated the Tigers 54-6 to claim consecutive minor premierships.
Under the leadership of captain Rueben Smahel, the team showed determination this season and will be looking to make up for last year’s grand final loss.
Kyle Shepherdson’s 15 tries and 18 goals have made him the standout point scorer in the regular season with 96 points.
“We’re really proud of their undefeated season,” Delle Vergin said.
The squad has a bye next week, and with it a well deserved rest.
