The two clubs traded plays through the middle, but solid defensive displays kept both squads out of the goal square for a good portion. 

The Panthers claimed the result 4-8-32 to 2-3-15.

Earlier, the Panthers ladies had taken on the Bega Bombers and claimed a decisive win 17-18-120 to 1-0-6.

The Panthers excelled through the middle and in their back lines where the Breakers were almost unable to find any room to move or fire shots on goal. 

It was a great showing from some of the club regulars in Sean Smith, Stephen Butterworth, Aaron Proctor and Charlie Shepherd closing the door on the visitors. 

Up until the start of the fourth quarter, the Breakers had only been able to kick a single goal and a further behind to rest on seven points leading to the final stanza. 

While the Panthers weren’t ahead by 100, the margin was still a big challenge to close as both side’s defensive efforts proved effective. 

The Panthers had jumped to a lead by two goals in the opening quarter, but only led by three majors at the three-quarter break. 

The goal scoring honours were shared between the Panthers as Toby Nunn, Smith, Jake Taylor and Dylan Cook each fired off a single six-pointer in the contest. 

The sole goal-scorer for the Breakers was Chris Hales. 

The result sees the Panthers comfortably holding second place on the competition ladder, hot on the heels of the Narooma Lions, while the Tathra Sea Eagles and Breakers now share equal fourth.

Just five rounds remain in the home and away season.

Earlier in the ladies game, the Panthers put on a dominant display with the Bega Bombers unable to hold out the rampant Pambula line-up. 

Brit Salt led the charge with six goals to her name in the strong showing. 

Meanwhile, Lee Collimore was right behind with five majors to her credit ahead of Chantelle Glaeeson and Emma Hassan, who each kicked a pair. 

From the opening bounce, the Panthers were in control as a majority of play was cleared forward for the Pambula squad out of the ruck. 

The hosts led 52-0 at the main break, and went on to pick up the scoring rate in the final two quarters. 

The goal-kicker for the Bombers was Kaela Barnes in the third quarter, but the Panthers continued their dominant display, piling on a further four goals in the period. 

The final quarter saw the hosts wrack up six goals and a swag of behinds in the comprehensive result. 

Pambula sits third on the competition ladder in ladies, just behind the Eden Whalers on for and against with the Tathra Sea Eaglettes out in front. 

This weekend, both the women’s and senior men’s teams will play host to their Merimbula Diggers counterparts in a local derby. Play is at the Pambula Sporting Complex from 1.10pm.
