Eden Library will be home to a stunning piece of Indigenous art by Pambula resident, Nathan Lygon, Twofold Aboriginal Corporation’s 2016 Naidoc Youth of the Year and Campbell Page youth worker.

On Wednesday, July 12 Nathan presented his work, Coming Together, to Samantha Fenton library operation team leader and Sarah Davis, council's placed based officer, for the Eden Library.
Nathan’s artwork has not only been a journey for him but also for five secondary school aged Koori boys who joined him in six art classes as he painted Coming Together.
Painted on stringy bark, which is carefully treated by water and heat, the work is a reflection of the meeting with the five Indigenous youths and their coming together at Eden Marine High School over six weeks to share culture and express themselves.
“It is also a reflection on a larger scale that when we come together, we unite,” Nathan said.
He said the boys were somewhat disengaged but the art sessions provided an opportunity for them to express themselves.
“It was heart-warming to hear teachers saying they had never seen the group so quiet,” he said.
The five boys came from different areas of the shire which is represented on the painting through the pathways to the central meeting point.
“A variety of colours around the meeting point is reflective of the many faces of Indigenous people today,” Nathan added.
The painting will be hung in Eden Library near the Indigenous Knowledge Collection of books.
