Ride organiser Jenny Shepheard said they would run events ranging from 10 to 100 kilometres.
“The shorter distances are to encourage new riders to give endurance a go. We have a 10-kilometre ride on the Saturday afternoon and a 20-kilometre ride from 9am on Sunday,” Ms Shepheard said.
The rides run from a base camp at Nelligen, adjacent to the Kings Highway.
“It’s an easy to access, flat paddock. We will have a canteen running with great food,” Ms Shepheard said.
She said experienced competitors would make an early start to tackle the longer distances – the 100-kilometre event starts at 5.30am – and the tracks were good underfoot with a variety of surfaces.
“One of the ride legs winds along the banks of the beautiful Clyde River, along The River Road to Shallow Crossing and back; passing by farmland, forest and rain-forest, and the river,” Ms Shepheard said.
She said another section followed dirt tracks through bush and rain-forest, with plenty of fresh water creeks for horses to drink from.
