The duo, who play in the local draw for the Merimbula Diggers, were chosen from almost 200 entrants during a trial in Albury recently.
The pair represented the South Coast at the trial tournament and quickly caught the eye of NSW selectors with standout performances.
The duo will head to the west coast in July with their fathers as support crew for a number of games as part of the All Schools National Championships – with most of the games to go ahead in Freemantle.
The Diggers, friends and family wished both boys the best of luck for their trip that will see them take part in team excursions and a youth leadership forum.
Meanwhile, in the local competition, the Narooma Lions have shut down a win streak by the Pambula Panthers and catapulted themselves to a clear lead on the competition table.
Held at the Lions’ home ground in Narooma, the hosts proved just too strong to contain as they ran out winners 10-8-68 to 5-8-38.
The Lions were unstoppable in the first quarter, piling on five goals to one in the opening period and scoring half their total in the one passage of play.
It was regular danger players for the Lions wreaking havoc with Simon Mackie and Rowan Hawkey leading the charge on the scoreboard.
The Panthers were simply not getting enough shots on goal to trail 39-15 at half-time.
The Pambula outfit had fought back into the match and were slowing the flow of points for the hosts, but were still not getting enough chances to level up the scores.
Despite evening out the flow of play, the Panthers couldn’t outscore the Lions and went on to lose by a moderate margin.
In other senior games, the Merimbula Diggers went down to the Bermagui Breakers with a much close scoreline as just a few points separated the pair.
The Breakers claimed the match 9-11-65 to 9-5-59.
Merimbula full forward Ian Radford had a solid outing, kicking three goals for the visitors, but the Breakers were reeling in a lion’s share of the possession.
Sebastian Hannebery led the charge for the Breakers with three goals, while Chris Hales and Liam Russell each kicked a pair.
All clubs will enjoy a general bye round this weekend for a wet-weather catch up, after a largely dry season where no games have been washed out.
Play will resume on Saturday, July 7 for round 10 with both the Panthers and Diggers on the road.
