A spokesman for the club said most teams from the under sevens right through to seniors met the Penguins on Pambula’s Penguin Park, with one exception being the 11s and 12s who played at Merimbula.
Most of the junior clubs had extremely close battles, going down to the Penguins by a single goal as the 12s suffered a 4-3 loss and the under 14s had a 2-1 defeat.
The ladies match favoured the hosts in a strong 5-0 finish, while senior men’s play was extremely competitive and finished with a pair of drawn games.
The reserves were unable to find the net at either end given some strong defensive plays and finished their encounter 0-0.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said the first grade encounter was also very tight and well contested with the two teams finished on 1-1 in a great local derby.
The two first grade teams will get a rematch this weekend when they meet again at Penguin Park.
