Sapphire Coast Turf Club are having a Christmas In July Luncheon and month long Canned Food Collection. $10 from every adult luncheon ticket purchased will be donated to Eden’s Christmas On Imlay and all food collected will be donated to Oz Harvest Sapphire Coast.
The Christmas lunch is on July 30 at Sapphire Coast Turf Club. Adult tickets are $55, which includes entry to the races, two course Christmas lunch and two drinks. Kids under 16 are $10 and included in their ticket is chicken nuggets, chips and poppa. RSVP date is July 25. Santa will visit and there will be a free jumping castle.
Collection bins for the canned food drive will be in Pambula Bendigo Bank, Pambula Post Office, Merimbula News Weekly office and Merimbula Health & Fitness from July 1. Bookings, inquiries or donations call Jess on 0400 611 818.
AT OAKLANDS

Meals on wheels
The board of Bega Valley Meals on Wheels Plus welcomed two new members at their recent board meeting in Bega, when the need of more volunteers was discussed to support the delivery of the many nutritional meals to clients each week, and also to provide social support such as home visiting and flexible respite, which is much appreciated by residents of the Far South Coast. AGLOW
All are invited to our next Aglow meeting, when we are hosting guest speaker Shoshanna Phillips from Israel. Shoshanna has grown up in a Jewish Christian family, and is passionate about sharing her faith with young and old. She is currently travelling in Australia with her husband Kyle. This is a wonderful opportunity for all who would like to hear firsthand about living the Christian life in the Jewish nation of Israel. Rotary Local Heroes
This week on Rotary Local Heroes, following news round up with Gav and Colin, best-selling crime mystery author, Melissa Pouliot will be describing her passion for writing missing persons stories. Colin will later be talking to ecologist and economist, Dr Jim Shields, who is about to set off to the Kimberly on an echinda adventure. There may even be some live music! Pet of the week
Black Satin the 8 months old female cat is a very playful, great natured cat. She is good with dogs and children, is harness and lead trained and likes to be indoors and outdoors. Black Satin will be a great addition to any family. She is one of many cats and kittens available at Sapphire Coast Branch of RSPCA, contactable on 0419267799. GARAGE SALE
Animal Welfare League NSW Far South Coast branch will be holding their garage sale at Tathra Hall on July 1 from 9am-1pm. If you have any clean saleable goods to donate you can drop them off at the Hall on Friday June 30 from 2pm-4pm or call 0400372609.
