The club honoured long-time supporter Harold Closter with a minute’s silence before the main draw and held a tribute to Harold with family members present on the day.
With extra fire in the belly to do their club proud, the first grade Bulldogs played out of their skin to turn away the Devils 30-22.
Earlier, the Hot Doggies were resplendent across two fixtures, defeating the Candelo-Bemboka Pink Panthers 42-10 and later stunning the Narooma She Devils in a 50-0 result.
The reserve grade Bull Ants were the only team lowering the flag as the Panthers claimed the biscuits 18-4, while the under 18s was claimed by the hosts 22-8 in a good day out for the Bulldogs.
In the headline first grade match up, the Devils struck first, but Matthew Moon broke through from 20 metres out to put the ‘Dogs back in front early 6-4.
Zac Mikula proved influential for the Bulldogs scoring the next pair of tries for the Bulldogs to help set up an 18-12 lead at the break.
Daniel Cronk extended the lead just after the break and the Bulldogs settled into the rhythm of the game with a good lead at 22-12.
The Narooma winger Stephen Brown crossed for his second part way through the second half to keep Narooma’s hopes alive.
But soon Dylan Fletcher closed the door with a good try getting the hosts ahead 30-16.
A late try to the Devils narrowed the gap, but the Bulldogs claimed the strong result to cap off a big day for the club.
In the earlier ladies fixtures it was Tamika Millard coming up massive for the club in a standout showing against the Pink Panthers.
Millard scored a hat-trick, while winger Steph Wallace made some brilliant edge line runs to feature herself with a double on the day.
Against the She-Devils, the Hot Doggies shared the spoils with a number of individual try-scorers making the most of space opened up in good attacking runs.
Ebony Pointon bolted through a four-pointer in the opening minute before Courtney Yelds found space from the restart to set up a good lead.
Tahlia Ingram and Sky Holmes both found the line in the first half as the Hot Doggies went to the front 28-0 at the break.
Ingram, Yelds and Pointon all found the line once more in the second half, while hooker Karli Maher also crossed for a four-pointer to wrap up an immense scoreline for the Merimbula-Pambula club.
This weekend the Bulldogs are on the road to meet Eden at George Brown Memorial Oval.
Games will run from 10.30am with the under 18s opening the day before ladies at noon, reserves from 1pm and first grade to kick off at 2.30pm.
