But that is only the start with Twyford Hall Incorporated looking for formal confirmation council will provide letters of support for future funding applications for the Theatre Twyford project.
Passions have already been roused on the subject after South East Arts general manager Andrew Gray appeared to damn the project with faint praise, suggesting that energies would be better invested in Bega based-projects.
The revised coastal accessibility plan is also up for discussion after councillors, in particular, councillor Mitchell Nadin, questioned the wisdom of some of the locations for works at Short Point. The Bermagui plan was also the subject of presentations earlier this year from unhappy local residents.
In response to an earlier question from Cr Nadin about underground power lines for Merimbula, council staff have made some calculations and believe it could cost about $1.5 million and a lot of disruption. Council is unlikely to make any decision on this matter at the meeting though.
But council staff are looking for approval to engage NSW Public Works Advisory (NSWPWA) to assist with the project and design management of the Merimbula Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Upgrade and Deep Water Ocean Outfall Concept Design and Environmental Assessment. It’s a move that will cost about $340,000 but staff say reduce much of the risk associated with the complex project.
While on the subject of water and waste, Candelo Showground Trust is requesting a possible waiver of their current water account after receiving a bill for $4,565.86.
Meanwhile councillor Robyn Bain is trying to get to the bottom of the Jack Martin Reserve issue at Pambula and wants council to write to NSW Crown Lands to insist that they discuss their issues and plans with the people of Pambula.
Matters close to the hearts of residents of North Tura have been raised by councillor Sharon Tapscott who has asked council a question on notice at the council meeting April 5 in relation to RE1 open space areas.
Council staff are proposing to arrange a drop-in community session.
