Residents cast aside morning chills to pay their respects to the men and women who have served, are serving and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country.
Veterans, their families and community members were treated to a stunning sunrise over Merimbula Lake as the Australian Flag was raised while a lone bugler sounded The Last Post.
Merimbula RSL sub-branch president Alan Browning led the service accompanied by sub-branch secretary Tony Toussaint.
Mr Toussaint said it seemed to be the biggest turn out to a dawn service they had ever had.
The simple but poignant service was over in less than 30 minutes. But before departing, the crowd came together to enjoy a free breakfast barbecue provided by the Merimbula Diggers Football Club who offered up sausage sandwiches with tea, coffee and of course, Anzac biscuits.
