Birdwatchers Meeting
The next evening meeting of the Far South Coast Birdwatchers will be held at 7.30pm on Thursday, April 12, in the Uniting Church Hall, Merimbula. Guest speaker for the evening will be James O’Connor, Head of Research, Birdlife Australia. His presentation will involve the “ins and outs” of the new “Birdata” portal and App: this should be extremely helpful to all birdwatchers for recording sightings, and will also increase knowledge to the wider community. He will also answer questions that we have, concerning current research and discoveries.
Alan Scrymgeour, our regular presenter’s story title is “Fed Up, the story of a Kestrel”. Some group members, who are accomplished photographers, will be showing a number of their outstanding bird photos, and to end the evening there will be a light supper and time for a chat.
Visitors are most welcome, as well as potential new members; all are invited to attend our meetings and regular bird walks. Details of our events appear on the FSCB website, www.fscb.org.au, or on Facebook.

Curating Your Collection
On Tuesday, March 21 a workshop conducted by Damian McDonald, Curator from Powerhouse Museum took place in Merimbula thanks to a grant from Mumbulla Foundation.
The event was organised by the Curator of the Old School Museum, Elizabeth Bretherton. Curators from Cooma, Mallacoota, Cobargo, Bega, Bermagui, Bombala, Eden, Berridale and our own Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society attended the one day workshop.
The workshop started with an inspection of the Old School Museum and then moved on to the Merimbula RSL as the Museum could not seat the number of people attending.
Damian was a practical and informative curator who gave us invaluable information on caring for, curating and displaying our collection.
