The sight of lineouts, rucks and mauls and the sound of 'crouch, bind, set' are not things you would expect to witness at the Tathra Country Club on a Tuesday evening, let alone the fact that the all that action is coming from a group of young women.

The Far South Coast Falcons are a fledgling club set to soar into the ACT Junior Rugby Union 10s with Tathra as a home ground.
With Jindabyne Rugby Club supporting them through these early days of formation, the Far South Coast Falcons are running U15s and U17s sides in the competition, which is the first of its kind in Southern NSW.
Coach Scott Harris is a nationally accredited Rugby Union coach with a string of successes under his belt including experience with Brumbies and current Australian players.
"The Far South Coast has developed some extraordinarily talented junior girls in previous years and this year looks like it will be our best yet. It's great to be included in the ACT competition. It does mean we have to cover a lot of territory, but the girls and their supporters are committed and keen to replicate, and improve upon the success of the past," Mr Harris said.
"Former players like Millie Boyle and current stars such as Tamika Millard, Jorja Moore, Lilli O'Dea and Bella Kiely have really inspired the girls who are coming through. They have a competitive edge. Girls and Women’s rugby 10s is a fast, exciting and technical game. Spectators are often surprised by just how skilled these girls really are." he said.
The Falcons come from across the coast from Eden north to Batemans Bay.
The ACTJRU competition kicks off in May with six home games being played in both Jindabyne and Tathra and teams travelling to Narooma, Cooma and the ACT for a further six games. When the Jindabyne team are in Tathra they will be wearing the Falcon's strip, which will be a huge boost for the team.
Former Wallaby great Garry Pearse is on board with the Falcons and is providing great advice and support the team that is now seeking sponsorship to help establish the club through this first year in the competition.
Anyone who can help out is invited to come on board and be a part of this exciting development in women’s sport for the Bega Valley.
"This is just the tip of the iceberg," said Mr Harris. "The Far South Coast Falcons has the potential to expand beyond the U15 and U17 girls' teams. It could really be the start of something great for our region."
