Both men and women are invited to attend the event, which will be hosted by Pambula and Merimbula Rotary.
Michelle Pettigrove will host the night of inspirational guest speakers, including Dr Jaclyn Brown and Jenny Symons.
A raffle will include prizes such as a $500 weekend at Tathra Beachside, a $100 lunch for two at the Wharf Restaurant, a $100 Goodyear Tyre and Auto Service voucher and a $50 Merimbula Jewellers voucher.
Entertainment will be provided by young artists Luca and Amelie Ziino, tickets are $25, with tables of 10 or individual bookings available.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Sapphire Coast Arts and Sports Youth Development Fund.
Local Rotarians are hoping the whole community will come together for a fun and inspirational way to celebrate International Women’s Day. However, this year’s IWD coincides with a period of uncertainty for Bega’s Women’s Resource Centre.
Higher overheads and running costs will see the not-for-profit run a three month period of fundraising alongside awareness campaigns on issues faced by women. The centre has raised $2265 of the $5000 crucially needed via its Give Now webpage.
To celebrate IWD, the centre will be hosting an exhibition at Spiral Gallery on March 3.
The exhibition’s theme is Here, There and Everywhere, and the centre’s coordinator Gabrielle Powell has also added something a little extra.
“We are also having a butterfly theme where people can place a butterfly on their favourite artwork, so we’re madly cutting out butterflies at the moment,” she said. “Dorte Planert will talk about her Boomerang Bags initiative as guest speaker and mayor Kristy McBain will present council’s scholarships.”
IWD is on March 8, and the centre will celebrate by hosting a dinner at the Bega Country Club from 6pm.
The centre is also hosting an online auction of art donated by a range of Spiral Gallery artists
