Ambassador and director of the Pink Stumps program Tracy Bevan said the two clubs would join the hundreds of families, friends, clubs, businesses and schools supporting the worthwhile cause by adding a splash of pink to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation.
Ms Bevan is encouraging everyone to take part and help out where they can for the cause.
“Pink Stumps Day is a great way to bring the magic of the Pink Test to your home town or suburb while having fun, showing off your cricket skills and raising money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.”
Pink Stumps Day plays a vital fundraising role to help achieve the Foundation’s mission of ensuring every family impacted by breast cancer has access to a dedicated breast care nurse, no matter where they live or their financial situation.
McGrath Foundation President and Co-founder, Glenn McGrath recognises the contribution Australian communities make through fundraising and awareness raising activities for the McGrath Foundation.
“This is the seventh annual Pink Stumps Day and it continues to be our biggest community fundraising initiative; we are incredibly grateful for the support of people from right across the country,” McGrath said.
“Our 117 McGrath Breast Care Nurses make life for families experiencing breast cancer just that little bit easier; they’re at the heart of what we do at the McGrath Foundation.”
Registrations for Pink Stumps Day are now open at www.pinkstumpsday.com.au.
While the official Pink Stumps Day is on Saturday 18 February 2017, participants are welcome to host their event before then or anytime up to April 2017.
In regular competition play, the Knights are still holding sway at the top of the ladder after a win over the weekend.
The Knights one side faced off against Eden and took to the crease first.
With a team best of 42 not out for Ash Postance, the Knights were calmly steady with the bat to finish the innings on 5/162.
Eden would have been confident of running down the total, but were kept ultimately quiet at the crease, going down for just 99 runs in the 29th over.
Dylan Jordan was the best with the ball, claiming four Eden scalps, while Angus Tarpey chimed in to secure two wickets.
