Several sharks were spotted off beaches at Merimbula and Pambula on Saturday, including four large whalers.

At 11am, the NSW government’s SharkSmart reported a 2.5metre unidentified shark had been spotted by an aerial patrol halfway between Pambula Beach and Bar Beach in Merimbula, about 70metres offshore.
About the same time, four large whaler sharks between 2-2.5metres had been seen at Bar Beach, Merimbula. No swimmers were in the area at the time.
Then at midday, two unidentified two-metre sharks were seen off Pambula Beach.
Authorities had been alerted, but the animals were no immediate threat to swimmers.
Also around 12pm, the aerial patrol reported one 2.5metre shark around 10km south of the Pambula River mouth. No swimmers or surfers were nearby.
