Club president Craig Ryan said it would be a huge day for surfers.
“This is our big grand finale and we’ve got all events running,” Ryan said.
“Everyone has trained all year for this event so fingers crossed that hopefully there will be some waves.”
Some competitions earlier in the year were met with fairly flat conditions and Ryan joked that you could tell it was competition time when the swell fell off.
But given the sterling conditions for the recent Merimbula Classic, he was hopeful the club would see some bigger surf.
The smaller conditions were favourable for the juniors, but Ryan said it would be good to have some bigger swells and let the open entrants strut their stuff.
Open men’s and women’s right through to the junior grommets will run on the day.
Heats and draws will be assigned first thing in the morning, so all entrants are urged to be there early.
A briefing will be held at the club room at Main Beach Merimbula from 7am.
All are welcome to enter with registration via the club’s Facebook page or e-mail info@sapphirecoastboardriders.com
The forecast for the weekend is looking good and Ryan said spectators are more than welcome to head along and enjoy the sunshine.
“It should be a really good day out, so please join us for a great day on the beach” he said.
The club will have food and drinks available with prizes and trophies up for grabs during presentations.
