On Friday, October 28, the school was awash with colour as kids adorned themselves with bandannas.
Year 7 student Hayley Ellis, who was wearing four bandannas, but had bought five and lent one to a friend, said she just wanted to do what she could to help sick kids.
“It’s only buying bandannas but it is better than doing nothing,” the 13-year-old said.
Each term the student representative council organisers a fundraiser to help a charity of their choice.
Teacher Kate Mamone said they chose to participate in CanTeen’s National Bandanna Day because the students felt like it was something they could relate to because it’s all about supporting people their age.
Every year, 23,000 young people (63 a day) have to deal with the challenge of cancer.
The students ended up raising more than $1500 for CanTeen.
The house wearing the most bandannas was also treated to free ice-cream.
