The Mumbulla Foundation Annual Gala Dinner held at Oaklands Centre on Saturday night was a resounding success. Around 100 guests enjoyed a wonderful night of entertainment to the theme of a Night on the Nile and helped to raise more than $20,000 for the Foundation, making it the most successful dinner to date.

With the venue colourfully decorated and guests entering into the spirit of the evening with many dazzling costumes there was no shortage of colour, excitement and good humour.
Live music was provided by Stonewave Taiko Drummers and Sam Martin and the Sundowners. Guests were also treated to a cameo impromptu dancing performance by one of the newly elected councillors. This was a definite highlight of the night.
With guests in such high spirits it was not surprising that the auctions held later in the evening proved to be a great success. Bidding for items was fast and furious and by the end of the evening $16,000 had been raised from the auction alone.
The whole evening was made possible by a generous donation from Bega Cheese. Senior executives of the company were among the guests and Grattan Smith took the opportunity to say a few words on behalf of Bega Cheese.
The Mumbulla Foundation provides around $100,000 in grants to local community groups each year. Since starting in 2000, the Foundation has given grants of nearly $1million to almost 100 community groups.
The Foundation is completely voluntary, with a small number of unpaid directors. Anyone interested in being a director, especially in the Merimbula and Eden area, please contact Gary Potts on 0418 720 908.
