The Vacant Lot consists of Paul Dion, Rob Smallwood and John Moffatt who regularly play music in the rural setting of Nethercote and cover popular jazz standards.
It’s an easy listening set with some well-known jazz standards, some old favourites and also one or two of Paul’s own compositions.
Despite their very laid back approach all three are accomplished musicians.
Paul has not only played for many big names as a backing musician, more recently he has written several musicals, the most notable of which, Prix D’Amour, the story of Rose and Lang Hancock, was performed locally and went on to be awarded best original work at the Canberra Area Threatre Awards.
With Paul on keyboards, sax, clarinet and flute, Rob on electric guitar and John on double bass and occasionally sousaphone, the musical sounds this trio produces are quite varied.
They like to have a fun time and you will too when you share an evening of music with them.
As the name implies, it’s an evening of music and variety, starting at 8pm with three or four walk ups who will each be performing two or three songs or items.
The walk-ups will be followed by a short (20 minute) break after which The Vacant Lot will perform for a 50 minute spot.
Entry is just $8 for Candelo Arts Society members and $10 for non members.
Come along, discover the local talent and enjoy the evening.
