Last season’s strong East Australian Current resulted in great marlin fishing along the NSW South Coast and even into Victoria.
Ocean flathead remain on the bite off Tathra, Bournda Island and Tura Beach at 18-20 fathoms. Reports from the reefs remain encouraging with morwong and a few snapper now on the bite. Good Australian salmon are reported from Haycock Beach and at Tura Beach trevally and Australian salmon are providing the excitement.
At the Merimbula Fishing Platform some really big squid continue to be taken early mornings and mid to late afternoon. In Merimbula and Pambula Lakes bream and trevally together with dusky flathead are available. Tailor are relatively abundant early morning and late afternoon. Tailor are schooling all through the estuaries including Merimbula Lake and on Main Beach. Merimbula Lake has returned a few dusky flathead, best using soft plastics. Bream and large estuary perch remain active well upstream in the Bega River.
