The highest six scores in the two routines – balance and tempo – were acknowledged by the judges.

Level five pair Indigo Conroy (Bega) and Alana Bretherton (Merimbula) performed two routines on Saturday, securing fifth place in their balance routine with a point score of 23.1, and were placed seventh overall.

Another strong performance was by level four trio consisting of Coco Houston (Merimbula), Charlotte Purcell (Merimbula) and Amelie Shannon (Tathra).

Their tempo routine scored 24.050 points – the highest scoring routine of the club – and they narrowly missed out on a ribbon to secure seventh place.

Fellow level four trio teammates – consisting of Mackenzie Baker (Pambula beach), Hollie Knowles (Merimbula) and Zoe Stewart (Pambula beach) – also impressed the judges, coming 11^th overall.

Montana Tinson from Eden competed in her swan-song competition, retiring in style after 14 years in gymnastics.

Her level five trio achieved 23.150 points in balance and 23.600 in tempo, and although the trio did not place in the top six Montana was delighted with her team’s effort.

“The highlight for me was our tempo routine, which is one of the best we’ve ever done,” Montana said on Tuesday September 13. 

“It was a good competition to finish (my career) with, and everyone had a lot of fun.”

Choreography coach Jess Knowles said she was “very proud” of all the girls.

“I was so impressed with how calm and confident they were,” Jess said on Tuesday. 

“It’s a credit to Natasha Sconfienza for coaching and assisting, and Zoe Stewart for being both a coach and an athlete on the day, and doing such a great job at it.”
