Joey Scrymgeour built a table tennis table that doubles as a normal dining room table after the wooden centre ‘net’ is removed.
The table is built out of silver top ash and merbau woods, with large drawers underneath. Joey plans on taking the utility table home where it can be used for both purposes.
“He always wanted a table tennis table, so he built one himself,” teacher Peter Zideluns said.
Will Ludbrook meanwhile made a fantastic aquarium stand that can house two fish tanks. He plans on placing larger fish in the top tank and then using the smaller tank underneath to house smaller fish to feed to the larger fish.
His aquarium stand is made of mixed hardwoods including merbau, spotted gum and black butt.
The final project is that of Ryan Norris, a study desk made of stringybark and recycled red gum.
Mr Zideluns said members of the Board of Studies would inspect the projects on Friday and the marks they give will contribute 60 per cent of the boy’s final HSC grade.
“I’m very proud of the projects and the boys,” he said. “There has been a lot of work going into them over the last six weeks.”
The Year 11 Industrial Technology – Timber students meanwhile continue to work on their preliminary projects.
Joey last year as a Year 11 did a coffee table and many of the elements he learned with that project have been incorporated into his new utility table, Mr Zideluns said.
