The final home and away round of Group 16 competition saw the Bulldogs going down 24-10 in first grade after a classy showing.
The Roosters made better use of some outside-inside plays and line-break opportunities in an otherwise dead-heat with the Bulldogs.
Jarrod Cole, Ryan Becker and Grant Moon were dominant in the front lines, making opportunities for the speedy back rowers.
The Sinclair brothers, Jamie and Michael, were the try-scoring duo for the Bulldogs, while Bega responded with its own strong runs.
Despite the scoreline, the Bulldogs’ defence stood up well, Bega was just able to muscle up in the middle and create gaps for the fullback and wingers to slink through.
Earlier the league-tag Hot Doggies had put the Bega Chicks to the test, but came off second best in a 36-20 scoreline.
Elyse Philipzen was the main scorer for the Chicks, touching down three tries, while scoring honours were shared in the Hot Doggies’ ranks.
Despite the results, the Bulldogs will contest finals play across three grades.
The Hot Doggies will face an elimination final against Moruya in Cooma on Saturday from noon, while the under 18s and first grade will play in Bega on Sunday.
