The medallion was presented on Wednesday by Mayor Michael Britten at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre because Ms Rheinberger was overseas when the 2015 ceremony was held last September.
Gae Rheinberger has been an active volunteer and mentor in the Bega Valley community for many years and across many groups and organisations.
After working as a registered nurse for many years, she broadened her qualifications to encompass aged care, disability services and health and safety and has been facilitating skills, knowledge and attitude development in those areas for many years in a variety of workplace settings.
This includes some 12 years teaching Aged Care, Disability, Child Studies and Nursing at TAFE.
As an accredited trainer with WorkCover NSW, St John Ambulance Australia (NSW) as well as several RTOs, Mrs Rheinberger has been presenting accredited workplace-based training across many areas in NSW as well as Victoria and the ACT.
She joined the Tulgeen Board in 2000, where she facilitated organisational accreditation in line with State and Federal government requirements as well as engendering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Having chaired the board from 2006 until retiring in 2015, she has seen Tulgeen develop into the strong organisation it is today.
She works with the board and management to prepare for the challenges of transition to the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Mrs Rheinberger is a member of the board’s Community Engagement, Marketing, Promotions and Fundraising and the Risk Management Sub-Committees.
She has also been a director of the Bega and District Nursing Home for many years. Her dedication to the board shows her unequivocal passion for providing high-quality aged care services throughout the Bega Valley Shire.
And her endless compassion and caring nature are admired and respected. She would never hesitate to offer assistance in any way she could. She has a wealth of knowledge and has given so much of herself to the Bega Valley community.
