A regular surfer at Pambula Beach has expressed concern about the demise of the disabled access ramp which was wrecked during the east coast low that hit the coast June 4,5, claiming that the resulting broken parts could cause injury.

Greg Ferguson, of Pambula Beach said broken ramp parts continue to be found in the water and around the beach and that many parts were jagged and could cause injury to someone in the water.
Mr Ferguson brought a section of the ramp into the News Weekly office about 50cm long with several screws protruding from it.
Although he readily agrees that the disabled ramp is a great idea, Mr Ferguson believes that there may be some problems with the design of the trial system used at Pambula.
“On the first night a few sections came away. They were found in tact and on the rocks. Two weeks later the seas came up and some of it was broken off. Then we had the east coast low.
“I was pretty sceptical when they said they were going to take up half. The whole lot should have been taken up. I’m concerned the top sections will be pounded into tiny pieces. There will be thousands of tiny pieces of all different shapes.”
