The Devils women’s side suffered a 2-0 loss to the Penguinettes after a well-fought game in overcast conditions. 

However, the reserve grade roster quickly reversed the result with a convincing 5-0 pummeling of the southern side. 

The Devils controlled the play in the first half, before the Penguins appeared to find some momentum early in the second. 

The Penguins took a number of shots, but all were repelled by the Bega goalie, who made some fantastic saves to run out a flawless game. It even cost the Pambula side a player, after a head-knock in a flying header contest for the ball in front of the Bega net. 

The Pambula goalie also had to come off late into the half after a knock to the head. 

The first-grade was a highly anticipated rematch between the Devils and the Penguins, with Pambula dealing a 6-1 loss. 

Play fluctuated largely through the midfield, while the Devils leaned to the fringes when possible to push momentum forward.  A vocal back line from the Penguins was largely able to contain the Bega threat as the Penguins went to the break 4-0 ahead. 

Pambula officials said it had been a win years in the making and praised it’s players for a “silky smooth, polished performance”.
