Every year for the last 13 years, the Lakeview Hotel, Merimbula, the Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club, numerous local businesses and many in the community have joined together for the annual charity golf day and raised money for the community.
During the course of 13 years, more than $180,000 has been raised and returned to the community.
For the second year running, the beneficiary of the golf day was Merimbula Tourism who this year was delighted to receive a cheque for $20,100 from organiser, Dennis Souter, owner of the Lakeview Hotel.
Mike McGuire, who is on the board of Merimbula Tourism, said the money would be spent on helping to promote Merimbula.
“I want to thank all parties involved for such a fantastic result. It was a great day, a great atmosphere and we look forward to the continuing support from the local community. Thanks must also go to the golf club; the conditions of the greens were particularly good,” Mr McGuire said.
Mr Souter thanked the town for its support and the sponsors for their generosity.
There were 32 teams of golfers who participated in the full day of playing which was then followed by presentations at the Lakeview Hotel in the evening.
