The Addams Family is a new musical that has only recently been available to community theatre groups and as soon as it was released, Elaine Waddell, of Spectrum Theatre Group was quick to take the opportunity and direct The Addams Family Musical.
Anyone familiar with the Addams Family will recognise the husband and wife team of Gomez and Morticia, and their children, Pugsley and Wednesday, along with the unique characters of Uncle Fester, Grandma and Lurch. However the musical introduces the dearly departed family members in the form of a chorus and some outsiders, the Beineke family.
There’s music, fun, laughter and some very strange goings on as the “normal” Beinekes meet the weird Addams and the ancestors try to return to their crypt but find the door is locked; and of course there is a love story or two.
The show opens this Friday night 7.30pm in cabaret format which means patrons can bring their own snacks and drinks to enjoy during the evening. The show season runs from May 20 to June 4. However tickets have been selling fast even before the show opens.
Mrs Waddell said: “Around 75 per cent of our total seating capacity has been sold and so by public demand we have added another cabaret night on Wednesday, June 1.”
The cabaret shows all start at 7.30pm on May 20, 21, 27,28, June 1, 3, 4 with matinee performances at 2pm on Sunday, May 22 and May 29 in theatre-style seating arrangements.
Tickets for the show at Twyford Hall cost $35 for cabaret nights and $30 for a matinee show. Matinees also have a family ticket for $100 (two adults, two kids under 16) or (one adult, three kids under 16).
