Ms Green, who is beginning to get a reputation as the turtle queen, owns a turtle tank and is well known for caring for Diamond, who became popular local identity before being released in March last year.
The new turtle, named Opal, was found south of Eden by some divers who then contacted Anthony Daley at the Merimbula Aquarium.
Mr Daley drove down to Eden to pick up the sick turtle and took it straight to Janine’s turtle tank for immediate care.
Opal is very dehydrated and starting to show signs of malnutrition so she has been started on fluids, antibiotics and Vitamin B injections to stimulate her appetite.
The sickly turtle is booked in for an X-ray at the Merimbula Vets, as when she was put into water she was floating unevenly. This could mean she has swallowed a plastic bag (thinking it was a jellyfish) or as was the case with Diamond - could have an air pocket under the shell caused by trauma or injury.
Opal will remain in intensive care for a number of weeks but fingers are crossed that she will make a full recovery.
