Fifty teams from across Victoria, the ACT and NSW descended on the Merimbula greens for the prestigious invitational.
Despite the stiff competition, the local duo reached ascendancy on day one, as the pair recorded two big wins to hold the top spot, closely followed by Tura’s Christine McGarrity.
Day two play normally produces plenty of upsets, but the top two sides kept their clean sheets.
Among the movers for the day were Tathra’s Annabel Gammon who grabbed second position along with Tura Beach’s Joy Clarke.
The final round saw the top six drawn against lower ranked teams and officials said it came down to margins to decide the final standings.
Chase and Burns bagged a 25-shot win to secure the overall victory.
McGarrity and partner Sue Pope were also devastating to win by 19-shots and bank the runners-up cheque.
Next is the Milestone Men’s Pair’s where 56 teams will contest the $8,000 prize pool from this Friday until Sunday before other headline tournaments at the club next week.
