At the April meeting of the Probus Club of Merimbula, the Knitwits proudly showed the members the first of two completed Wrap with Love blankets which have been knitted by the group this season.

The Knitwits meet on one afternoon per month as a group and knit the squares over a cuppa and a chat which are then loving joined to complete the wrap. Once completed the wraps are given to Pambula Rotary who arrange for shipment to Sydney. The wraps are then given to people in need both in Australia and overseas. The group would appreciated any donations of 8 ply wool.

Garden Club
Members of the Merimbula & District Garden Club are reminded that the next meeting is on this Saturday, April 23.
The guest speaker will be Jenny Davies from the Bega Valley Seed Savers Network. The group will also be discussing details of the outing to Candelo on Thursday, May 5, where they will be visiting two local gardens and enjoying Candelo’s hospitality.
The group always welcome visitors, simply head to the Merimbula RSL at 10.30am.
PARKINSON GROUP
The April meeting of the Bega Valley Parkinson Support Group was highlighted by the presence and presentation of Speech Therapists from Community Health.
Loss of speech and swallowing are common problems with Parkinson Disease and the Speech Therapists were able to advise members on how to maintain a strong voice and good swallowing techniques.
The President was pleased to welcome four new members to their first meeting. A bonding luncheon will be held on the May, 16 at the Bega Asian Restaurant.
The next meeting will be held at Bega Golf Club at 10.30am on May 2nd with Dietitians from Community Health as quest speakers.
