A family fishing near the new underpass at the Narooma Bridge were mortified when they witnessed an attack by an octopus on a pigeon.
The Lainey family from Tilba said they noticed the octopus emerging from under the rock wall with the dying pigeon in its grasp.
Their theory is that the octopus had grabbed the bird as it was roosting in the crevices in the rock wall, then dragging it out into the open. The octopus was seen wrapping its arms around the pigeon and possibly feeding on the flesh.
Mum Pauline meanwhile did manage to catch a nice bream on pilchard bait just before the octopus attack. Click here to check out all the South Coast fishing news
